  1. Today I towed about 15 pallets on my bicycle trailer making 15 round trips. Make sure your pallets are stamped HT (heat treated). I would say that your bin should be on top of earth in your garden not concrete in an alleyway. Also the slats are open so the compost can get fresh air on all four sides. Nice build but for the easiest processing a 3 bin made of 7 or 8 pallets is the way to go.

  2. Thanks for all these videos! I've watched a few now. You're really good at taking the time to explain all this stuff. Btw is it London you're based? I'm trying to place the accent. I'm up in Scotland but I'm sure most of these methods will work in my cold(er) climate 😀

  3. Since my lawn has perpetual weeds then I can’t use that for compost can I ? Can it be got hot enough by putting a black tarp over it to kill the weeds? The weeds in south Alabama are impossible to eradicate. Just when I think I’m getting it under control a hurricane blows through and deposits weeds of every description. I have three huge oak trees in my yard which I can use that for the brown part. But my grass clippings aren’t really good because of the weeds. Is there any way of telling if the dollar weeds are dead in a mulch bin?

  4. Sounds like a Rat Hotel Lee. An important part of any compost heap is Worms, do you think they will be able to break through the concrete floor? i personal think the bin would have been better placed on a grassy area.just saying.

  5. I realize this is old but i have a question…..i started my compost heap in a regular trash bin and didnt drill holes in the sides for air flow. I added things in layers like i was supposed to and turned the top of it (as far down and i could reach) by hand. I recently dumped the bin out and it smells like manure. IDK if thats good or not but it DOES have a bit of a sweet smell. all the moisture collected at the bottom of the bin and now im afraid to put my compost BACK into the bin to store it. It had disgusting juice at the bottom when i dumped it all out to turn it. Im not allowed to drill holes in the sides of the can, but would it still be ok to just drill holes in the bottom?? thanks in advance!
