There are many types of energy fuels that are available to individuals and businesses. Generally, these fuels provide the energy needed to manufacture products, heat and cool offices and homes, provide energy to meet transportation needs, etc.

In addition, most of these current energy sources, when expended, omit various negative types of ommissions. Some of these ommissions include carbon monoxide, greenhouse gases, methane, etc. In turn these ommissions damage the environment and contribute to global warming.

Therefore, it is important to discover, develop and implement clean energy fuel sources. To help in this process it is important to understand the types of clean energy fuel and the advantages of this type of fuel.

Types Of Clean Energy Fuel

There are various types of clean energy fuels that are available or are being developed. Some of these clean energy fuels are in the early developmental states and some have are being utilized with great success.

An example of a clean energy power that is being experimented with is drawing power from the ocean. In reality the ocean waves are constantly moving. Therefore, if this movement or flowing action were to be captured, the movement could conceivably activate generators which in turn could be transformed into a clean energy fuel.

Another type of clean energy fuel that has been developed with great success is the harnessing of the Sun's powerful light. Specifically, the light is captured by solar panels which in turn is transformed into usuable power through a photovoltaic system. This solar energy then becomes a clean energy power source to provide needed energy in solar powered homes.

Additionally, experiments are being conducted on solar paneled cars. These prototypes are equipped with solar panels on the roof of the vehicle which provide fuel as part of a hybrid car or fully solar powered car.

One other type of clean energy fuel that is being developed is through the use of wind. This natural resource turns propellers that are mounted on a tall structure. The turning of the propellers then activates a generator which in turn creates electricity. This electricity is then captured through power grids and then utilized as electricity.

Advantages Of Clean Energy Fuel

There are many advantages associated with utilizing clean energy fuel. The primary advantage of individuals utilizing this type of fuel is that less pollutants and toxins are released into the atmosphere.

This in turn reduces greenhouse gases and helps to minimize global warming. Additionally, it helps to maintain the integrity of the ecosystem which in turns preserves the Earth's environment.

Wind energy is being pitched, increasingly, as the perfect way to solve an imminent energy crisis. It is seen as a totally clean way to supply electricity to homes and an affordable way to do it. So are the advantages of wind energy everything that is claimed and what about the disadvantages of wind energy. Another question that needs to be addressed is if the advantages of wind energy outweigh the disadvantages.

Great Energy

Creating sustainable energy has long been a challenge when the answer has been sitting in front of us for centuries. Wind power has been used by humans for many centuries in agriculture, in Babylon, China, and if you think of windmills you will understand that wind power is not a new technology.

One of the advantages of wind energy is that it is a renewable source. In an area that receives high levels of wind this is the perfect energy source. It can never run out and best of all, and perhaps high on the list of the advantages of wind energy, is that it is a totally free source of energy. There is no need to pay a foreign country for it or to pay more for it when it becomes scarce.

Another one of the great advantages of wind energy is that it does not pollute at all. It is one of the rare ways to generate electricity that does not give out greenhouse gases or destroy the environment. Any energy used in the installation can be gained once the wind turbines are in use in a period of three to six months.

A wind energy system is also a low cost way to provide electricity. It could soon be the cheapest way to generate electricity. The main cost of generating electricity in this way lies in the installation of wind turbines. Though the cost may rise if the land that the wind turbines are built on is expensive.

The Disadvantages

While there are many advantages of wind energy there are disadvantages associated with using wind energy. One of the disadvantages of wind energy is that although it does not pollute it does cause noise disturbances.

Though this is negated by the fact that not many wind farms are built near residential areas and newer models of wind turbines are usually designed in such a way that noise disturbances are decreased significantly. Wind energy is also not transmittable, the area that it supplies energy to must be nearby.

In regard to using alternative forms of energy solar energy is one such form that immediately comes to mind. The sun is all powerful and perhaps the single most impressive source of energy that is known to man today as it has enough power to sustain us for many long years to come and it is also available free of cost and is highly efficient as well. It would be quite realistic to hope that someday this alternative form of energy will replace conventional energy sources and become the mainstay of all our future energy requirements.

High Latitudes

The only trouble with using solar energy is that not every part of the world is suitable for tapping this alternative form of energy, especially not in places that are located at high latitudes where the amount of sunlight is simply not enough to be of any help as far as an alternative form of energy is concerned.

Wind energy is another alternative form of energy that enjoys the advantage of being very efficient in generating electricity. In high altitude places as well as along coast lines this alternative forms of energy can prove to be very effective and it can even provide electricity to meet about twenty percent of all our electricity requirements. This is a clean source of energy and it is also not dangerous for the flora and fauna and it is also renewable.

Hydroelectricity is another one of the better alternative forms of energy and it can be sourced from a dam, though constructing dams is a problem because it is necessary to build them only where large amounts of water can be stored easily.

Tidal energy is yet another alternative form of energy and this form of energy works very similarly to hydroelectric energy though the scale on which it works is considerably smaller. Yet another one of the available alternative forms of energy is biomass that can be used in the production of alcohol which can prove to be an alternate source to power up automobiles.

Fusion, nuclear as well as geothermal power is other examples of alternative forms of energy though these alternatives suffer from a major drawback which is that they can endanger the environment.

The current energy crisis is causing a lot of worry for everyone – is it scientists or everyday people. It is therefore about time that we started to develop means with which to fully utilize alternative energy resources such as water and wind as well as water. Though alternative forms of energy do have certain disadvantages they are nevertheless the best bet when it comes to securing our long term energy needs.
