At the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris last December, world leaders agreed that climate change is an urgent threat—and that has cemented green energy production as a new frontier of innovation.

VICE founder Shane Smith takes an in-depth look at the future of how we make and use energy, and how we can meet growing demand as we cut carbon emissions. This is his debrief.

  3. you are correct, i know alot of people who think it is fake. Listen, i've been getting paid about $200 a week just selling energy. I took the idea and plan of here. you can also try it: FREEENERGYGENERATION.PIXUB.COM

  4. the computer you used to type that is a product of the western world fyi hahahahahaha. maybe you should blame the people who want only oil to be our energy and ONLY oil. there are so many other options yet the ones in control are making so much money off of oil that they want it to stay that way. same with the pharmaceutical industry, many alternatives, but there is so much money made they do not want to stop it.

  5. Tesla gave us free energy centuries ago. Ask yourself why it wasn't allowed, and why they are pitching you inferior technology now.

  7. Just imagine America making itself great again by taking the lead in promoting clean alternative energy sources that the entire world can use. I know it will happen one day soon in the near future before we allow ourselves to destroy this wonderful planet.

  8. How do we get through the next 40 years without destroying the earth? The thing is we're not destroying the earth. Sure, Sapiens have only caused extinctions ever since we started being "intelligent" which has affected the earth, but we'll never destroy it. Earth will just destroy us. And it will be better for it.

EDIT: Not that we shouldn't try to be more environmentally responsible. We should totally do that.

  9. It's a pretty common myth that solar panels can produce any electrical current flow whatsoever. Just looking at purely the science of it, it's obvious that there's no ground (pun intended) for these outrageous rumors.

  10. No mention of nuclear? It puts out way more power than solar or wind and the environmental impact of dams destroys river ecosystems. Until we've figured out fusion, the best solution is nuclear. New reactor designs are much safer and stable. Plus you'll have power all the time unlike wind or solar which are intermittent. Nuclear is also cheaper in terms of cost kWh.

  12. The real question, is how do you cost engineer this technology to make it affordable for everyone to use? Discovering alternate energy sources it is the easy in the grand scheme of things. They love showing it off in a laboratory somewhere. But utilizing, deploying, and managing this technology on a world scale will be the real challenge.

  13. The hardest part about switching to renewable from nuclear is that nuclear is so much more efficient. BUT the technology will improve to close the efficiency gap, while creating a closed loop system.
