  1. I did the same exact thing this year after watching this video. I got the same results: black clumps. I moved them to my compost pile for the winter and I guess I'll do what you did and use it in a raised bed next year

  2. Mate it's still science, you simply increased the surface area of the compost pile. But if you want to be more varied nutrient wise you'd have to add more brown… Etc.

  3. Thank you for the tip. Our family has a big grass pile and didn't have the extra scraps of left over veggies. Thank you for answering my question. I will definitely do your method and post. Update . 9-6-2017 I am on day 33 of my compost pile and its getting there as you said.I think a few more weeks will get it to there. Thanks for the tips.

  4. I also do lazy-boy, no science composting, but I keep a jumbo garbage bag of dry leaves from fall and spring clean up near the compost bin during the spring and early summer. Each time I dump in a load of green grass clippings, I quickly toss/mix in about a bushel of dry leaves with the grass. I find if you put either green grass clippings OR dry leaves in a layer without mixing them, they compress into an impermeable leathery matt. Also, pure green grass will stink. Much better if you mix in some dry leaves.

  5. Why all the talks about speeding up composting? Are those permaniacs compete with someone? GARDENING TAKES YEARS! and it's normal! Use your brain already and do some planning in advance so you don't have to rush. Thanks for the video. We need more of such debunking of the permaniacs mythologies.

  6. Love this video – did this method (wire enclosure) on my garden Allotment and people used it as a garbage can. I compost the cut grass on the Allotment and this method works perfectly well 🙂

  8. Man!! you are a Superhero…so fast…. lol.. I have a question, requesting you to please answer it here . What does heat in compost mean? I use smaller containers for composting (like the one you used in indoor compost). Its placed in the backyard under direct sunlight, lid open, but the days are hotter here and the pile dries off soon. I do add water to it. Should I place it in the shade, will it get the heat thats mentioned if its in the shade. Please help me Ray!! I have learnt a lot from your videos and now I follow only your videos on gardening 🙂
