The Evolution of Ecological Consciousness

Permaculture designer Andrew Faust of Center for Bioregional Living gives us an inspiring and heady narrative about the evolution of all life and human consciousness on Mother Earth. This is a brilliant condensation of the core of the scientific worldview with the metaphysical implications highlighted along the way.

  1. Loved the creepy breathing in the beginning, thought i was crazy at first. Also, dirt is a non living thing as are rocks, so the environment with the bunnies and foxes wouldn't be a community.

  2. This is great. We have some English Lanugage Learners at our school who need the silence after each piece, in order to process what is being said. I appreciate the simplicity, repeats and the processing time of your videos. Thank you.

  4. Very good thoughts here, and it does sound like a lot of our problems are a lot less expensive to solve than we typically think. We tend to just be bull-headed as a culture and get stuck in 'what we've always done' for better or worse. Hopefully dollars, cents, health, and climate – something that I think you're ideas address quite well together – will get the attention that they deserve.

  5. I look at the painting at 53:40 and I can't help but think this man's fingers are getting second degree burns and his skin is falling off all because he couldn't bother to go get a torch. What can I say, artists aren't always thoughtful of such things in their rendering!

  6. I loved this video. I love the walk through life as we know if – from the beginning to present times. I really like the way you speak Andrew – it's easy enough for me to follow and you manage to put everything into context for me. It has definitely left me feeling a little bit sad though. Why are we not thinking? Anyway – it has also definitely inspired me to make a start. So we're going to pool resources in our little part of the world – Port Elizabeth, South Africa – and get on with it.

  7. stopped watching the video cause the background music is annoying. why put music in the background of a talk? really a shame.

  8. Cut out the nonessential 50% of the content, recompile the rest, and this could be a far more exciting and convincing narrative. Right now it talks about everything under the sun and wanders all over the place.

  9. I was talking with my friends about not being able to evolve because of technological stuff. After starting meditation, these kinds of stuff makes me feel comfort. Maybe.
