Elephants On The Run [Wildlife Documentary] | Wild Things

Elephants have lived peaceful lives around Kilimanjaro for centuries but the pathways they have used are disappearing as land is being farmed and farmers safeguard their land against the travelling herds. Without access, it is becoming harder for the elephants to reach safe ground in the dry season. Some of the traps can cause lethal harm to the wandering creatures. Some lucky ones are treated by bush vets but other injuries go unnoticed and can lead to death. When elephants come across the remains of their loved ones they appear to recognise and mourn the departed, stopping to caress the bones with their trunks. Beautiful footage reveals the astonishing tenderness exhibited by these gentle giants.

  1. Great documentary, but misleading within the first minute…

"Wide open wilderness is shrinking alarmingly for the largest living animal on Earth, the African Elephant."

The largest living animal on Earth is the Blue Whale. It is also the largest animal EVER to inhabit this planet. Yes, that includes every dinosaur. And the Blue Whale is still among us.

Elephants are my favorite land animal. Their massive size and intelligence make them a World Treasure, to be protected through any means necessary.

This is a great documentary, but science and those who support it must first and foremost strive to be factual if we are to combat the hordes of religious humans who reject science.

  2. What a remarkable documentary! Puts the human audience in a contemplative mood, arousing awe and respect for the wonderful creatures of animal kingdom. I really hope that human-beings make a sincere effort to support rather than hinder their already threatened survival. Thank you for uploading!
