How Does a Solar Cell Work?

The electronics of the solar cell is presented including the PN junction diode. The electrical model of the solar cell is presented along with the solar cell voltage versus current performance. A SPICE simulation is done on an electrical model of the solar cell.

New high-efficiency perovskite solar cells

Stanford and Oxford scientists have created novel solar cells from crystalline perovskite that could rival and even outperform existing silicon cells on the market today. The new design converts sunlight to electricity at efficiencies of 20 percent, similar to current technology but at much lower cost.

In the video, Professor Michael McGehee and postdoctoral scholar Tomas Leijtens of Stanford describe the discovery, which could lead to thin-film solar cells with a record-setting 30% efficiency. The research was funded in part by Stanford’s Global Climate and Energy Project (http://gcep.stanford.edu).

  1. Lapel microphones is a great way to capture audio in an interview. Just remember to mute the soundtrack from the built in camera mic when you edit your video. Or else it will end up sounding like this.

  2. i shared this and like I said can't you use glass beads, like the ones used on traffic paint after it is sprayed, they cost about $1 a pound, or $30, for a 25# bag.
let's get the show on the road folks. wake up america!
