  1. The electrical inspector here says I can only bring one nm cable through that cable clamp you are using on your panel, and I presume also on the heater itself. The rest of it is easy enough , just not sure how to overcome this for rough-in inspection.

  5. Hi Sparky, Wanted to let you know that thanks to this video, I was able to install my new Eco27 all by myself! It was an all day job of course running 3 sets of 8/2 wire from one end of the house to the other, and then cutting out the old copper pipe and removing the broken 40 gal electric water tank. I learned how to use the Sharkbite connectors and was able to do all of the plumbing work myself, and was able to install the control valves with the orange handles (3/4") with one being for the bypass to be able to flush it with vinegar next year to de-scale it. Which I learned from one of your other videos! And even though I know that my warranty is void since I didn't use a certified electrician AND plumber, it was still worth it. Thanks again for sharing this! You saved me about a thousand dollars!

  6. Minimum 8 gauge wire… Well.. only 8 gauge wire will fit through that tiny hole they give you.

That is a lot of effort to double check which wire was what lol.

  7. Although the installation and wiring of these units are basic, the panel used as stated by a previous poster is indeed a sub panel which 90% of american households probably don't have. It should be noted that with a main breaker panel it doesn't really matter where the grounds are landed as far as the grounding, but as for the sub panel you used for demo purposes the grounds were in fact landed on the isolated neutral side of the sub panel when the grounds should of been installed on the left grounding bar that is bonded to the panel casing. This could be deadly if installed by a novice homeowner not knowing what they are doing, so yes anyone wanting to install a unit like this please have a licensed electrician install it so you don't kill yourself while taking a shower if a fault current ever occurs.

  8. Great Video. Bill, in your mock up you have a sub panel. What size wire would you run to your sub being that you have three 40 amp circuits? Also, how reliable are these units?

  9. Bill , what kind of transmitter do you recommend to use? I'm doing solar panel installation and sometimes we loose wire so we don't know correct string.

  10. Bill, is that regular 8-3 NM you used? I'm just curious, because most all #8 or #6 NMB has had a black sheath in recent years in the eastern US. or is it just an old remnant of NM….or is is NMD?
