SOLAR AND WIND POWER HOW I WIRED IT.

How I wired the AC side of my solar and wind powered backup energy set up. And moving one of the battery banks.

This small scale wind turbine can produce up to 15kwh per day in the right conditions. It is quiet small and it’s modern design looks great on the front of the house. It is a simple installation process and takes around 4 hours to complete.

  1. to this day i still cannot find information about what kind of charge controller i need… to basically charge a 12 volt battery bank with a salvaged washing machine motor… (hint: what type of CHARGE CONTROLLER does this require?)

  2. All my Battery inner connects are of type k copper tube that can handle over 1400 amps at 1 foot according to Nibco, the manufacturer. My 2-0 wire failed, the pipe has not.

  3. love the video, serious system, James Taylor on the radio, and I found out I'm not the only one who cleans the out side of his toolbox……

  5. geesh brother. what a great system; where do i start? I'm a total newbie but also a nerd with some experience with an electrician and in other trades. I know I can learn and then safely and neatly wire up something like that. My goal is something much more modest: a skoolie conversion. BUT, I want it to have a shore tie, wind, solar, generator and engine charging capabilities. I need enough juice to power a refrigerator, TV, PC, stereo, water pump, microwave and lights. I don't know how to size it let alone engineer the build.

  6. What you are showing is way ahead of what most people can fathom in a short video. It is impressive but not practical
for most individuals just getting into alternative power, myself included.

  7. No mention of braking. It seems the tailpice is hinged, so perhaps at high wind speeds, some type of pressure folds the tailpiece sideways reducing the turbine speed?

  8. "The small turbine we're looking at is from Swan Energy. They've jointly developed it." Huh? Jointly means with another company. Which other company?

  9. 500 watt per…? hour? day? year? would be nice to know, I'm looking to build my own and I'm aiming for about 4/5 kW per day.

  10. I know I didn't have a stick of sun in November and December 2016, but high winds 90% during those months, I wish I had my 400 airstream up, I needed it badly…

  11. they should be lite weight with the power of jet suction. I don't know to minimize noise with this type of thing , but I am sure solar panels and these wind turbines combined will be the answer to a sustainable home.

  12. it always wind. planes take off all the time. They need to be remote controlled and flexible to move in position to be the most effective.

  13. Very nice setup.
I really like that wind turbine. The design of the tail tracking is really cool.
Where can I buy this kind of wind turbine?
