What Would Happen If Global Warming Sped Up?

A two-degree increase in global temperature may seem insignificant, but it would likely cause a massive impact all over the Earth.

Significant sea-level rise in a two-degree warmer world
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/06/120624134955.htm
“Even if global warming is limited to two degrees Celsius, global mean sea level could continue to rise, reaching between 1.5 and four meters above present-day levels by the year 2300, with the best estimate being at 2.7 meters, according to a new study.”

Water availability in +2°C and +4°C worlds

“While the parties to the UNFCCC agreed in the December 2009 Copenhagen Accord that a 2°C global warming over pre-industrial levels should be avoided, current commitments on greenhouse gas emissions reductions from these same parties will lead to a 50 : 50 chance of warming greater than 3.5°C.”

  1. We CAN'T know if global warming is real because there are so many factors, so many things to take into consideration, science is so complex and also, we weren't measuring earth's average temperature thousands of years ago. Also the recent changes in the last decades are the results of a cycle, maybe not, who knows for sure at 100%? It's called skepticism. Anyway we are all going to die and even if it's going to be "too late" we'll find solutions in the future…

  2. Hogwash. Even the climate cultists are only talking about a temp rise of 0.8 degrees in a century. What does an economist know about weather anyway?

  3. So we are basing our entire world plan on something a professor of ECONOMICS said about CLIMATOLOGY? Huh? Uh how this lady can read the teleprompter without cracking a smile when she says that is beyond me because the irony is rich in dark comedy. My guess is that this runaway climate train left the last station of safety a long time ago. Now we are trying to convince everyone it's okay as long as we act before 1.5C. And just like when we passed the 350ppm absolute CO2 limit, we'll leave 1.5C far behind us soon. Then we'll say 2.0C is our goal. And when we pass 2.0C we will proclaim 2.5C is the upper limit and so on. We will always have time to act, right? Always, that is, until there is no media left to announce that we really do have just a little more time…

  4. 2'c. No chance. We have increased co2 emissions by 40% since 2008 to 36,000,000,000 tons per year. This means we will have used the whole so called carbon budget by 2030. That guarantees a temperature rise of 3'c, meaning a GAT (Global Average Temperature) of 17.5'c. That is without self reinforcing feedback loops. That is not the end but just the beginning of the demise of our habitat without which we, nor any other large land animals cannot survive (check large land animals in Africa. All on the edge of extinction). That means the certain death of most Ocean life (check Ocean Acidification) and the beginning of an Anoxic Ocean event. Life thrives at a GAT of 13.5'c to 15.5'c. Life becomes stressed at 17'c. At + 17'c life becomes unsustainable in most land areas on Earth. Land Areas warm by a factor of 2, ie warming of 3'c = warming of 6'c on land areas. Africa is now becoming a failing continent with 70% of farms failing and water resources becoming scarce (check out Syria, Bolivia, Kenya, Tanzania and many other African Countries). This is staring to happen in the USA also (check Texas and California). The USA will continue to demise as far as crop production and water availability go. The USA needs to build desalination plants to avoid severe water shortages in circa 2020. South America will dry more and the worlds second largest Oxygen producer the Amazonian rain forest will dry out and become a carbon producer. The worlds 1st Oxygen producer is Phytoplankton, which is in decline by 40%, with many species already extinct due to high Ocean temperatures. Europe will become severely dried out circa 2025. Italy and Spain, Europe's main fruit and Vegetable producers will have to build desalination plants to survive in the short term. At 18'c GAT Life in most Land Areas becomes untenable. Africa is already seeing daily temperatures of 45'c (see global weather news). USA is seeing daily temperatures of 40'c. At these temperatures with the right atmospheric conditions, 10s of thousands of people can succumb to heat exhaustion in a matter of hours. Most |Africans do not have air conditioning so they will perish. Even with air conditioning anyone going outside for more than a few hours will succumb. This is just the beginning yet Our Leaders have closed minds and shut ears. They are utterly dependant on fossil fuel taxes. They are so engrossed in petty issues. They are here for the here and now and are committing our children to a futureless world. 6,000,000,500+ people will die from Global Average Temperature rise. This includes most of our children and grand children. Grand children will become meaningless as the few survivors will succumb to Nuclear Meltdowns (500 Nuclear Power Plants Unmanned), Anoxic Gasses (Hydrogen Sulphide from an Anoxic Ocean) and lack of suitable food and water sources. Sulphur and Hydrogen Eating Microbes will survive and possible a few burrowing animals. It will take the Earth 5-10 million years to become the beautiful, life giving paradise that we have known. We are not Homo Sapiens (clever man) we are Homo Genocideous (deathly man).

  5. Please check the facts. Using computer models are wrong because garbage-in equals garbage-out. Out of 114 computer models only 3 were right. People, CO2 is only 4% of the total greenhouse gases. Water vapor is 95%. Plus CO2 is good for the plants. They grow bigger with less water. What a joke that CO2 is causing global warming.

  6. The North Pole is an insane 36 degrees warmer than normal as winter descends – 17 November 2016. Global warming is a hoax? Ye, right…

  7. I only shower when my balls start to stink. I know they stink when they start to itch. I scratch my balls and then sniff my fingers "mmmm… Yup, time to shower."

  8. Hmmm 2015 but still there are a many false in the movie.

    1. We did already reached the 2 C Degree in Global Temp in Future, what is very clear by the warming we do cause today and will impact in future like CO2 emissions and also the Ocean warming we did rise already this year we did increase the warming and in the oceans this warming will stay for sooo many years, also there are a lot of projects already planned for the future which will increase the emissions much more then today. Only scientist need to speak in probabilities and uncertainty for the future, but it is very clear that we will reach that 2 C degree mark in 30-40 years or earlier.
    2. 2015 was already the hottest year in over 144000 years, 2016 every month was hotter then all the records made till now.
    3. We had hard corals die off this year 2016, what was expected by the El Nino, but not so extreme then it did take place world wide specially on the Great Barrier Reef.
    4. Not could change the jet streams, it is an old story they did change many years ago also the ocean streams.
Specially the whole Arctic Vortex did change it is now much more looping into deeper regions in direction to the equator and also there are now breaking points and weak points in this Arctic jet streams and near the equator the jet streams did gap and now running into each others and did break also. The gulf stream did slow down very much.
    5. The are a lot of important things missing in the movie of positive Feedbacks in the climate change and also in Impacts like Mass-Extinction did start a few years by warming Oceans on Marine Life and is rapid increasing, also the melting permafrost in the Tundra, East Siberian Arctic is very very dangerous and also increasing very rapidly.
    6. The title is also not so right global warming was all the the time speeding up, but in the exponential curve in the start is not much happen, until you go over the tipping point of the curve, I think that was what the title wanted to say.
