Why humans are so bad at thinking about climate change

The biggest problem for the climate change fight isn’t technology – it’s human psychology.

This is the first episode of Climate Lab, a six-part series produced by the University of California in partnership with Vox. Hosted by Emmy-nominated conservation scientist Dr. M. Sanjayan, the videos explore the surprising elements of our lives that contribute to climate change and the groundbreaking work being done to fight back. Featuring conversations with experts, scientists, thought leaders and activists, the series takes what can seem like an overwhelming problem and breaks it down into manageable parts: from clean energy to food waste, religion to smartphones. 2. Hey maybe chance will somehow fix this planet. Just like the big bang a product of chance that happened for no apparent reason. Let's put our trust on chance. It's very possible that some random cosmic anomaly might save us.

  3. Rising level of CO2 is causing not only higher temperatures. What worse, upper layers of our atmosphere started escaping into space. So atmospheric pressure is slowly droping. And without air, you know. Average man requires not less than 800 hPa of pressure to be breathing.

  4. TO ALL CLIMATE CHANGE DENIERS:

even if you don't believe in climate change, surely you can at least agree that POLLUTION is on the rise?

A lot of climate change policies is about fighting against POLLUTION, so what do you have against that? Surely you should be ok with seeing your tax money being used to help fight against POLLUTION?? come on… are you that selfish?

  5. People think of it as a distant problem because every time they tell us something will happen in the short term, it is proven wrong. They say it will cause more hurricanes but instead they got fewer. They said it would cause worse storms, but they have gotten fewer and weaker. They said the seas would rise, but its only raising at the same rate its been for centuries.

They can only get people to pay tons of money to freeloaders by telling us that if we done destroy our civilization now, it will be destroyed by the climate in 50 years.

  7. Wait! Trees absorb carbon dioxide using their wood so couldn't we use all of our wood to absorb all of the carbon dioxide in the air?

  8. Just to get everybody straight, you don't have to save power to save our climate, but check and see where your power comes from, if it is hydroelectric, solar, or, wind, then don't worry about it, those methods of producing energy has no impact on our atmosphere.
