  1. Having male ends on both ends of the 120v cords (aka suicide plugs) is DANGEROUS, otherwise, it looks like you've set up a good system.

  3. it must be very difficult to maintain that battery bank with those panels and charging scheme .. if its seldom discharged i could see it working – for awhile anyway .. your '30 year' estimate on battery life is way off, my guess is with the panel/charger setup you got there those batts are already dead or close to it ..

  4. You bought all this and only plan to use it in case of things. You don't use it daily to keep your bills down? You're just making hydrogen and wasting your time. The amount you'd save on energy you could keep buying batteries instead of waiting till those come up on burn out.

  7. Since you have this installed this setup, have you used the solar system and how much have you save compare to not having solar at all? I've been thinking about doing something similar to save some electricity. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Nice but might I suggest is that you move your inverter away from the battery bank
otherwise it will fail prematurely due to corrosion from battery outgassing and is also a fire risk too

  10. You talk about emp damaging your charge controllers but fail to realize your solar panels will be destroyed in an EMP attack. They do not make EMP proof Solar Panels.

  11. what is the longevity of this? it doesnt seem worth it starting at 20 grand to switch over. if i spend $1,000 a year on electricity it's going to take 20 years to break even. will it last that long?
