DIY Solar power may seem like a daunting task. Fear not, this video WILL set you on the right path. We start by unraveling the mystery of off-grid solar power and teach you the basics, how to understand and think about your system. From there, we show you how to access and size the proper system for an off grid back-up or full time off grid system. Once you’ve got that squared away, we talk all about batteries. Of all the components, batteries are probably the most misunderstood. There are some nuances in solar power that you must be aware of; this video will set you straight on where to mount and how to wire your panels for the best efficiency. Speaking of efficiency, do you know the difference between an MPPT and PWM solar charge controller? Just watch the video. Often the most overlooked component of any off grid system is safety, and for that we’ve got you covered as well. Finally, we finish up talking about living with your new system. There are LOTS of links in the video to the components used, schematics, and further information. ALL of these can be found on our “Ultimate Guide to Off Grid Solar” page-

  1. Great job, you did not left out anything regarding the key component in solar systems.

  2. i need help.
which is the watts if it states 1.6A(at)110v/0.8A(at)220v
what is my watts or how do i but this in solar info. to run 16

  3. The absolute best, most informative video on solar power I have seen! I've viewed hundreds in the last few months and not one explained each component (and grounding) like this one. Thank you!

  4. Awesome presentation to keep interest! I started this video with literally zero knowledge of anything electrical or solar related. Now I at least have the confidence to continue researching and even give your system a try soon! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

  5. very very good and informative and comprehensive. Few confusions. I tried Google to find out open circuit amp. but could only find open circuit voltage. what is open circuit amp? Does open circuit amp really matters? as in series there are only 5 to 6 ams current will flow. I saw mostly we calculate only close circuit. i am little confuse.

  6. Nice video content! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you thought about – Lammywalness Wise Solving Guide (should be on google have a look)? It is a great exclusive guide for living off grid minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my m8 at very last got great results with it.
