  1. they might want to review this and remove the VW Jetta TDI now we all know its s cheat and can't really compare to hybrids in eco statements, fuel economy (when they reset it to actual NOx and co2 settings)

  2. Regarding battery: the Volt's battery is heated and cooled to keep the temperature of the battery at the optimum temp. Chevy saw how the Prius batteries were far exceeding life expectancies by not charging them fully, or depleting them all the way. Chevy Volt has a reserve 30% battery life that can't be used. The gas generator will then seamlessly kick in at 30% charge. The warranty is 8 years and 100,000 miles. My volt has 12,000 on it and the battery holds a charge giving me a range of 45-51 miles per charge depending on driving conditions. Constant high speeds 75+ mph will give a range of about 41 miles. I live in California, so I don't know too much about how cold temps will effect the range. I have a 2014 Volt. This car is AWESOME! Love it!

  3. mine1username, I did my research before purchasing my new 2013 Toyota Prius with package four earlier this month, November 1st. I want a reliable, fuel efficient and versatile utilitarian hatchback and the Prius has already established a strong reputation in the market place. In comparison, the cost of a non-hybrid car with all the features I received with my Prius, such as, four disc brakes, cruise control, heated leather seats, power adjust driver seat, auto dimming homelink rear view mirror, navigation, etc. would be equivalent. I have the added hybrid feature which has already saved me in fuel expense. I was gassing my previous 2001 Ford Escape 7 times a month at $36 each. Essentially every four workdays.
$36 x 7 = $252.00/month, $252/month x 12 months = $3,024/year. I have gassed my new Prius once this month at $44. Still have less than half a tank left, which means I don't need to gas her again until December. Sweet!.
$44 x 12 months = $528/year. $3,024 Escape – $528 Prius = $2,497 Gas Savings/year. My new Prius is already paying for itself. Replacing the battery in a few years is not a deal breaker for me.

  4. The 2.0 TDI 140 HP is  the most economical TDI from Volkswagen, here in Europe, we have a 1.6 CrTDI Bluemotion with a Start/Stop technology and a decent 105 HP, that can do up to 62 MPG 🙂 And oh yeah, how the heck is your TDI a Hybrid??!! Diesel hybrids do exist now in Europe, but the Jetta TDI is definitely NOT a hybrid, it's just a common rail turbo diesel injection

  5. I'm so tired of seeing good people being scammed by these folks. Get a geo Metro, and you'll absolutely blow a insight out of the water when it comes to gas mileage. Unless you're talking about a 2000 insight. That one did get 60 mpg. Geeze… I wonder why their new hybrids can't get that? I know the answer…. oil companies would be screwed if they kept that up.

  6. If you are strictly buying a hybrid to save the earth from smog, then by all means go for it. But if you are buying it to "save" money, move on. You are being scammed by the automakers/politicians/investors/oil companies. You just paid 10K extra for a car that gets 10 to 15 mpg avg over your non-hybrid equivalent. Do the math. By the time it pays for itself, your battery will be almost out of warranty. So you'll just sell it right? Ok, who want's a hybrid that's going to need a new battery.
