2 years and running great. Solar Panels from Harbor Freight mounted on the Roof of the Van. 90 watts, charged from the sun, controlled by (2) modules that charge (2) marine batteries, that feed through 2000 watt inverter.. Can Power my Air Conditioner all day!!!!
But..
What about at night ?

I explain how much this system cost and I go over the site plan and electrical diagram in this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFwdY0wiBGA Keep in mind the 19 price doesn’t consider the federal or state tax incentives, which would lower it significantly. I’ve also modified this system to deal with an addition the homeowner put up in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p3zXlOmi_w I show how to deal with roof penetrations and racking in more detail here. Dealing with Xcel and the building inspector were videos in themselves. Feel free to ask questions though and if your feeling very generous you can help me spread knowledge, inspiration, compassion and adventure around the world with monetary support. Systems been running for a total of 40 months: the one caveat to also keep in mind is that for about half a year we’ve been working with only 4 panels because of an addition on the house.
Update as of 9/5/16 the system has been running for
So:
40 months total
It has produced 4.74 megawatts-hours total
1 megawatt = 1000 kw
So that equates to 4740 kwh total
4740/40 = 118.5 kwh per month
118.5/30 = 3.95
~3.95 kwh per day
sun is such a plus to this video. well shot man, this is a well put together video
Even though its proven to be incorrect with modern day science, in truth anything is possible, so in truth he cant be wrong nor right until you meet him and find out yourself, people have produced infinite energy devices quite easy that you can place in your van and run your shit forever but nope they got killed for trying to show all you retards like, dont judge if you aint there with him plain and simple
bullshit ! 90 watts solar 800 watt load
He is using DC powered A.C, or A.C with DC powered compressor. its doable, but DC powered appliances are hard to get, and you need whole system to run on DC, so it fits well for vans,
[Awesome Plan Here >>>t.co/z2HakYxvSR ] Using this plan you can build any type of wind generator you want And the plan as so easy to follow that even a kind could do it.

lol. I'm headed to Harbor Freight in the morning. 800 watts from 90? It's a miracle!
On a battery of course
homeless tips
It could work if he had a 1000ah 12v battery = math 1000×12= 12000÷2= 6000 watt hours…. that means he could run the air conditioner for 7.5 hours plus the extra power coming from the solar panels.
You are the man
It makes sense. the batteries buffer the draw. the panels recharge during AC off cycle. The van has great insulation and is small do doesn't need much. The panels shade the van. Great job. At night, at least you get enough to cool down for sleep. Finding the sweet spot for tuning the thermostat is no doubt the key. Plus those AC's can be programmed to turn off after an hour. People don't understand real world adaptation with alternative power.
There is no 800Watts can run from 90W solar panel, He didn't say the AH for the two batteries. Sub 2 my channel for solar reviews and more information
Nice story mother goose but it ain't gonna do it.
I need at least 600 watts of solar to run a 5k window ac without discharging my batteries. My rv runs a 5k btu window ac on 950 watts of solar and 450 amp hours of
agm batteries with a 1500 watt inverter. It works great but when over 100 degrees outside and running 24/7 I help the batteries with a small generator to get thru the night. Here are here are
some pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rpal99/albums/72157684709253163
Fake science…….
You are essentially destroying your batteries. It's not the solar that running the A/C. It's the batteries. Not enough solar to keep batteries charged enough to avoid damage.
I know for a fact that 800 watts for an AC cannot run all day on two marine deep cycle batteries. I tried to do the same thing while I had two 115 ah marine deep cycle batteries in parallel AND the main automotive battery attached to the alternator of my van WHILE THE ENGINE RUNS, and it only took 10 minutes to wear down the charge to the point of killing the engine. MYTH BUSTED.
800 watts for the A/C divided by 90 watts of panels means that it would
take 8.88 hours of charging to run the A/C one hour. He could charge
for a few days and then run the A/C for a few hours depending on how
much battery capacity he has. He said he had two batteries. If they
are 12 volt 120 Amp hour, 2 would give 240 amps of output if they are run
completely down. How many watts is 12 volts x 240 amps? It is 2880
watts, divide this by 800 equals 3.6 hour run time. Then it would take
the 90 watt panels 32 hours of strong sunlight to recharge. I see some
problem here and I believe it is the old B.S. problem.
This is of course BS… I have over 1,000 watts of solar, and 10 deep cycle bats using 4/0 gauge cable, Midnight solar controller, and a Zantrex 5,000 watt inverter and I WOULD NOT try to run a large window air on my system for the long haul. This guy sounds like one of my neighbors (who lies like Hillary lies)… What he has is a setup which can run a small laptop and charge his cell phone and that is about all it can do.
IF you want to make it by yourself just go to InpliX page.
I've found great handbook on InpliX website. Great solutions for everyone I think
Did you consider shifting the panels to the right for a little extra protection on the roof penetration
do the enphase inverters cost less than one main inverter in general? I was also wondering It looks like it is back fed into that double breaker. If the street power goes off will it back feed the lines?
I'm taking a training course in solar panel installation, repair and maintenance. My instructor recommended this book [link here >>>t.co/Ny1QIx5of9 ] as an excellent resource along with the course. I'm finding it invaluable. By buying it through Amazon, I saved considerable money and received it very quickly.
Enphase was a solid Move my man, Chilling!
my question is how is it during winter season you gotta climb up everytime it snows an brush off the snow is it possible that the snow is too heavy an damage the panels

Must be very good if you live in America. Not so Sunny in England UK.
He should've failed you for that hacked looking #6 ground wire splice. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I left a job looking like that
Great video, thanks man
I made it by myself. Just go to Inplix webpage if you'd like do the same
You said roof penetration. lol
This is a great book [link here ::plus.google.com/112513270274515701022/posts/MqjxhE9Hj25 ] that dives into the field of photovoltaics. The only downfall I see is 80% of the book is for battery systems; if that is what you're doing, this book is for you.
Where do you bought the inverters?
What if you need to redo your roof? That would suck. Solar panels are so big I home the tech gets better soon get more power from smaller panels I am interested in solar but I wouldnt want to mount it to the roof I have snow and stuff where I live Pole in the back would be better.
You can learn from inplix scripts how to make it yourself.
You did a clean installation job, and a fantastic job explaining everything. I benefitted from the plan information required for the permits. Where can I get a plan template like you used ?
I'm suprised the inspector let you get away with sleeving the romex in conduit. That is a code violation, I think NEC allows only 1" of romex sleeved in conduit.
omg this is a roof leak & fire waiting to happen. should be taken down to protect people from bad info. massive code issues on this one boys & girls.
